KING TAHARQA
OVERVIEW
King Taharqa, a prominent ruler of the ancient Kingdom of Kush (25th Dynasty), left an indelible mark on Nubian and Egyptian history. Reigning in the 7th century BC, he extended Kushite influence to Egypt, countering Assyrian expansion. Taharqa's reign is marked by his support for Egyptian religious practices and his role in defending temples and traditions. His rule also saw monumental construction projects, including the Kawa temple and pyramids at Nuri. Taharqa's efforts in protecting Egyptian culture are evident in his campaigns against the Assyrians.
